Week 4 Forum Questions

Topic 1:
1. Do not pay sources or subjects or reward them materially for information or participation. This stood out to me because a photographer could take a picture of someone and have it become famous, and make a lot of money without compensating the person who he took a photo of.
2. Think proactively, as a student of psychology, sociology, politics and art to develop a unique vision and presentation. Work with a voracious appetite for current events and contemporary visual media. I like this one because it focuses on current events and how we can depict them differently through photography.
3. Well if I took a picture of someone or the creation of someones work, and somehow made money out of it. I would give a certain percentage to the person or persons work. Its the right thing to do.
Topic2 2:
1. I like this picture by Megan because of the way that the light presents itself in the room. The light guides my eyes towards to the focal point which was framed slightly to the right of the middle of the photograph. I feel that it makes the picture more interesting.
2. The position of the trees, and how you can see them receding is what caught my attention at first glance. Grif did an excellent job at timing his photograph considering how good the light is in it.

Week 3 forum questions

Topic 1:
1. Donna Mainord
2. Secretary of the Linn Benton Community College Foundation office
3. Her office desk
4. I think shooting a picture with her sitting at her desk with a computer, and maybe a phone by her side should be enough props.
5. I plan to email Donna for her picture.

1. Jonathan Camacho
2. Fisherman for the Aleutian in Dutch Harbor, Alaska
3. Somewhere on a boat or next to the ocean on a dock.
4. He could be wearing his rain gear and maybe have a sack of bait over his shoulder.
5. I plan to call or text him.

Topic 2:
1.
I believe this is my best photo because of the way I placed my subjects, and props in the photo. Its pretty clear that these two people are working at an LBCC foundation phone room.

2.
This is my worst photo because I didn't position the objects in my shot very well. There is no focal point and the photo is also slightly sideways.
3. I think I need to improve on what subjects I choose to shoot for the most part I've shot everyday things that I encounter. I think I need to start going out of my way to improve my photos.

Week 1 Blog Forum Topics

I'm 21 years old and I was born and raised in Newport on the Oregon coast. I am currently working on receiving my AAOT degree, and I took this class because I wanted to learn how to use cameras. I have no photography experience, but I use to film short skits in a class in high school.

My goals are to learn how to edit photos on the computer. I would also like to know the proper terms that are used in photography. Im also looking to acquire some experience with a high end camera.

I work at a phoneathon that raises money for the school.  I was thinking that I could take some pictures of the things that we do at my work. I also kind of wanted to take some pictures of the school at night. You usually don't see the school at night and I thought shooting some common school areas at night would give you a different perspective. Another thing I had in mind was shooting on earth day and trying to get shots of people doing eco friendly things.

Week #1 blog post

Casey Faulconer, Elvis Negrete, and Chase Fortmiller head back to the phoneathon work office after a brief 15 minute break.
My usual lunch spot in the North side parking lot.
Here we have a picture taken by Mark Hemingway that is displayed in the 2nd floor of the North Santiam Hall.
